Quiet, warm & itchy?

Since the last time I posted I believe we've accomplished just two things.  One of which was yesterday: sanding the concrete floor with a rented sander.  There was so much concrete dust in the air for that joyous project that pictures were not even possible!  Therefor we must go back a week to being snowed in and talk about the other thing we accomplished.  Ladies and gentleman I give you...

The INSULATION team:

For the walls, because insulation width and stud width are typically the same, we were able to measure just the length of most pieces, then cut.  You see Deb doing that above.  Then we'd place them between the studs, a few staples to hold them in place and pronto!  Sometimes the width was different though.  These special pieces made their way to the "operating table" as Woodie got a kick out of calling it ;)  Here's the team in surgery:

This gives you a fuller affect of this day:

Except you must try and picture us singing along - especially Woodie - to Pandora radio's "Van Morrison station"  It played Van, The Who, Tom Petty, Pink Floyd and everything else in that genre you can imagine.  Great music enjoyed by all and fun to hear stories as the different songs took Deb & Wood on walk down memory lane...

Day two, we insulated the ceiling:

And finally...I'd had enough.

The Past Week

This past week we had the Electricians switch over our panel from 100AMP service to 200AMP.  What a task!

The plumber came and put all the sewage pipes in the trench that was cut in the bathroom floor and together with Ben they filled it in with cement.  This trench goes out the back of the bathroom, under the oil tank in the utilities room and through the garage wall.  All leading to an ejector pump we sunk in the back corner of the garage.

We also had Sam and Rob come for a day to finish putting on our exterior doors where the garage door had formerly been. It was raining so they put up a tent, then got to work..

...And here is the final product! (minus trim of course) :

Left side opens to our mudroom and the other to the rest of the garage for Woodie & Deb's storage.

Next we had them put in the rest of the special order windows we were waiting for.  One is this beautiful glass block window.  I love it!!

Outside view (glass needs to be cleaned & foundation painted obv)
Inside

The other two windows are TINY and fit in where the existing windows were.  These windows needed a privacy film put on them though, because one looks out under the deck and one is in our bathroom.  Have you ever put privacy film on windows?  Ugh.  Annoying project.  Here's Deb & me hard at work the night before:

And here's one in the process of being installed:

Hey at least we will be able to get SOME fresh air in the bathroom right?  Now we're hoping to pass some inspections and it's on to insulation!
